A HISTORY OF ACHIEVEMENT

The business of banking has changed enormously over the years. Community financial institutions in particular are facing greater challenges and a more complex operating environment. The Baker Group’s approach to financial risk management helps clients manage their institution as a system of interrelated parts which can efficiently adapt to the changing landscape. These ideas were originally outlined in the 1981 publication of James V. Baker’s book “Asset/Liability Management.”

The development and application of this “systems” approach helped the company grow rapidly as Dr. Baker, ever the professor, was on the road nonstop educating banks about asset/liability management so they could make more appropriate investment decisions. After Jim’s retirement in 1989, the firm continued to innovate and grow some ten times in capital. Through the addition of substantial resources and valuable human capital, The Baker Group is now positioned better than ever to assist community based financial institutions.
