Just in from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Initial Jobless Claims for the week ending December 26th came in at 787k and that was less than the 835k that analysts were expecting and also less than the prior week’s slightly revised 806k. Continuing Claims for the week ending December 19th fell to 5.22M from 5.32M and were less than the 5.37M that was forecast. Treasuries are pretty flat in early trading with the Ten-Year at 93 basis points and the Long Bond at 1.66%. Crude oil is off about a half-dollar to $47.91 and gold is up $2 to $1,897. Equity markets also seem to be taking a breather and indices are little changed so far today.
